Scleral Lenses

These larger lenses (14-20 mm diameter) vault the cornea and rest on the sclera (the white part of the eye).  For patients who have irregular corneas or keratoconus it is sometimes not possible to achieve a comfortable fit with Rigid Gas Permaeble (RGP) lenses, but the larger lens mitigates the problem of corneal sensitivity in almost all cases so that patients can achieve all day comfort and sharp vision.
