Acuvue Oasys with Transitions

Just as Transition Lenses in your glasses darken and lighten depending on exposure to UV rays, now your contact lenses can do the same! The technology is so impressive that the lenses were named one of TIME’s 100 Best Inventions of 2018.

Some information about them:

  • 2-week disposable lenses

  • They take 45 seconds to darken outdoors and 90 seconds to lighten indoors.

  • At full activation, the lenses block up to 70 % of visible light

  • Filter light indoors (even in its clear state).

  • They are not meant to be a replacement for sunglasses as they only protect the part of the eye they cover (which is a very small area)

How do they look on the eye?

All contact lenses are slightly larger than the iris (the coloured part) so there is a visible carrier on the “white” of the eye.  When Transition Contact Lenses darken, the carrier also darkens.  In light eyes, it is very apparent.  In darker eyes, the result is very subtle.

A person’s own eye colour would definitely be a big consideration for these lenses.
